Want to visit the dive bar's official page?

On the surface, The Sanguine Shadow is a simple Gridanian dive bar that provides comfort food, drinks, and the occasional entertainment for the general public.

However, for those with either a keen eye, or the right connections,

The Sanguine Shadow's existence serves a double-purpose— steady income, and the public front for the underground operations of the family that resides there— Umbra.

Thievery, extortion, racketeering, spying, information-gathering, drug dealing, smuggling, settling underworld disputes, assassination—these are but some of the things that the Umbra family offers.

Above all else, the Umbra family takes care of its own.

Family is first and foremost their top priority, and even beyond the desire for gil and action that drives the members of Umbra seek to apply their trade, they look out for one another in all that they do—their unwavering loyalty and camaraderie to the family triumphs over all, and they will stop at nothing to ensure that this remains so.

Blood is thicker than water.

To betray The Family and go back on not only one's contract, but one's oath, is not something that is taken lightly, and those that do face punishments far worse than a simple death.

Umbra is the official name of the organized crime family that owns and operates

The Sanguine Shadow. Patrons can come and go, enjoy some food and drinks, and shady business deals can be taking place both right under their noses, and behind the scenes.

Here at Umbra, we strive to provide a rich, immersive atmosphere where our members can grow and develop their characters as they partake in not only their own internal and individual stories, but in plots and interactions within the general community.

The Family collaborates out-of-character (OOCly) with both individuals and other free companies to create "jobs" for both Umbra's members, and freelance opportunists.

These jobs are arranged ahead of time so that limitations are known beforehand, and so that accommodations can be made so that everyone can have fun.

Perhaps you have a character you would like us to rob, or attempt to assassinate. Or you're looking for someone who knows the right folks to get your hands on either something rare, or something illegal. Perhaps you're on the hunt for a certain individual, and would us to like to not only hunt them down, but have us gather information on them beforehand so you can personally be a part of delivering their 'just-desserts', or for us to play the villain in your story.

The possibilities are endless, and we aren't meant to always succeed or fail. As such, we openly welcome OOC feedback on how we're doing to ensure that things not only go smoothly, but that everyone is able to have fun at the end of the day.

Umbra does indeed take in contractors, as well as business associates. You don't have to be a part of Umbra's family to participate in something as a contractor. While you most certainly will get maximum exposure by actually joining the free company, we do employ characters outside of the free company as well. In some cases, this can actually enhance a lot of the storytelling we aim to weave.
