Departments of Umbra

“Welcome to the Acquisitions Department.

Your time is valuable, as is mine, so I will keep this short. The Sanguine Shadow has opportunities for those whose talents do not easily fit into a conventional business environment.

Meet me in the basement, and we can assess what you can provide for Umbra.” 

Intel Branch

 The Intelligence Branch is an integral vein in the beating heart of Umbra. These individuals excel in subterfuge, in blending in to any situation that may arise.

They are expected to perform reconnaissance for missions, and also to gather important intel on various figures and organizations across Eorzea.

Mercenary Branch

 The Mercenary Branch of the Acquisitions Department is made up of those who don't mind putting themselves at risk of danger to protect others. Strong individuals who can face challenges head-on without fear. Melee, ranged, physical or magical, the Mercenary Branch provides the heavy-muscle.

Acquisitions

 The Acquisitions Department is made up of individuals with a variety of skills oriented towards working out in the field. Those who are skilled in combat, physical or magical, stealth, and other forms of coercion will find this department a good fit. Members will go on regular excursions to procure assets and intelligence of value, and double as security when The Sanguine Shadow is open for business in the bar.
 

People that would do well in this department:

​

Those skilled in Combat.

Hand to hand and/or weapons (this includes magic!)
Those skilled in Stealth.

Strong observation skills.

Research Branch

Curious people who examine the qualities and properties inherent in the many sciences and mysteries of the world around them, up to and including crystals, body composition, strange artifacts, and more. It is a take-it-apart-and-see-what-happens sort of group---and experimental core, and where seekers of knowledge gather to learn what they can and share their findings with the other departments to help further their goals. A team that does work in the background.

Medical Branch

The Medical Branch is made up of skilled individuals who understand how to apply first-aid, how to stitch a wound, and how to tend to the injured. People who are adept at working quickly and efficiently, and naturally keeping their cool in the face of distress would do well here. They are also responsible for keeping the medical supplies topped off. A knowledge of basic anatomy and/or herbs is an asset in this branch.

REM Department

 The REM Department is composed of three branches: Research, Engineering, and Medical.
The individuals in REM are expected to be on the forefront of their field, and to always push themselves further in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. This department is for those who wish to unravel the arcane mysteries of the world, or for those who wish to put their own intellect and guile to the ultimate test for the prosperity of Umbra.

 

People that would do well in this department:

Those handy with a wrench.

Researchers and Practitioners of any number of studies.

(medical, aetherical, historical, the sciences, alchemy, etc.)
Those skilled in Healing, both manual and aetherical.

Doctors, surgeons, arcanists, alchemists, botanists

Engineering Branch

Mathematicians and builders, the engineers in REM are an essential component of Umbra. These individuals are responsible for implementing and improving technology in all the organization's ventures. From installing amenities in the dive to pioneering weaponry, the engineering department ensures that Umbra has an edge on its rivals.

“So, you're quite interested in the arts of research, engineering, and medicine, mmm? Seems you've come to the right place!

The REM Department is dedicated to such paths, and as such, we are essentially the brains of Umbra. The DOERS need enhancements for the dive itself? Just call REM and we'll engineer something up for them. The Acquisitions Department having troubles with the aetherically-inclined? REM has them covered with our extensive research on the arcane.

Sounds quite important, no? Aye, due to REM--- it gives us an edge against our enemies and aid for our allies, and ultimately . . . our own glory!” 

The Entertainment Branch is host to sparkling musicians, jolly comedians, and any who wish to bring their talents to the stage. These individuals breathe life into The Sanguine Shadow by creating a lively, energetic atmosphere which can quell even the most troubled of souls. As a member of the Entertainment Branch, you are expected to write performances and aid in operations that may require an extra set of hands.

Entertainment

 No criminal organization can function without a cover and immense networking; the members of the Dive-Ops, Entertainment, and Relations Department are responsible for this very task. A diverse department, DOERs ranging from musicians to merchants all work towards the same goal: ensuring that Umbra and its cover, The Sanguine Shadow, can operate smoothly.
 

People that would do well in this department:

Musicians, dancers, singers, entertainers.

Social Butterflies, Fences, Merchants

Those skilled in Cooking or Cleaning in any capacity.

Waitresses, waiters, bartenders, barmaids, chefs

DOER Department

“Welcome to DOER, short for Dive Ops, Entertainment, and Relations.

Whereas the lofty, scholarly types in REM keep themselves cloistered in their libraries, and the muscle-bound invalids in Acquisitions attempt to fight anything with a pulse--- we keep this place afloat.

In the DOER Department, you are expected to not only tend to the daily operations of the bar, but also to network outside of our circle to attract customers and contacts. Don't let the other branches delude you into thinking that we're boring bureaucrats or desk wenches--- we are the foundation they depend on.” 

Dive-Ops Branch

Members of the Dive-Ops Branch are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the dive bar, cooking for other members of The Family, and helping run the counter itself, especially during events for the cover.

Relations Branch

The Relations Branch is comprised of merchants and socialites who do not fear the public gaze. A member of this branch needs not only a discerning eye to spot potential contacts and business partners, but also a personable demeanor to seal the deal.
